History
The founder of AsiaWave left Vietnam to go to
Canada with his family in the 80’s and grew up in North America. He visited the region a few years ago, to
better understand why economists were predicting the emergence of China and the
region into a future global economic force.
Although he was very impressed with China, he also realized that it
would be extremely difficult for any newcomers as the competition was already
fierce and therefore would require large amount of capital to start a
successful consulting practice. As he continued his visit, he went back to
Vietnam and learned that this country was adopting the China practice of
pushing capitalism within a communist framework: Central Government controls all
infrastructure related projects while encouraging privatization of other
businesses.
Having spent some time in the management
information system in Canada and having developed some programs for the Quebec
municipal governments, he saw the opportunity software and other technology
related applications as the country opens up for foreign competition. Although there will be an increasing number
of companies going to VN, he believes that the market is larger than just that
for multi national corporations (MNC).
In fact the majority of enterprises in VN are of small and medium size
who could work well with SME from North America if they speak a common
language. Given the different culture,
needs and technology base, products/solutions offered by foreign companies will
not be readily marketale in VN.
AsiaWave perceives this gap and the company is created
based on this fundamental raison d’etre: building an organization that
will bridge the gap between SMEs from the two continents.
